Elective Module: Sport Starts at Home

Mr. Azhar Yusof is the Head of CoachSG at Sport Singapore.

 

He has a diverse background; having been a national athlete, an international referee and a multi-sport coach. A teacher by training, he headed the Physical Education Department at Raffles Institution before joining the National Institute of Education as a Senior Lecturer. He has presented in numerous workshops and a number of local and international conferences on the areas of sport and coaching.

 

Parents can expect to find out more on:

 

  1. Why it is important that sport starts at home
  2. What Physical Literacy and Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) are; and when the golden period of their child's developing years is
  3. How to play an active parenting role and make physical activities fun and engaging for their children

 


Broad Session Schedule:

 

  • • Introduction to Active Parents Movement
  • • Introduction to Sport Starts at Home, including concepts of Physical Literacy and FMS, and FMS development phases in young children 
  • • Principles and tips for parents to actively play with and engage their children through F.U.N. games
  • Q&A session with Mr Azhar Yusof
  • • Fun and interactive parent-child fun activities guided by Mr Azhar and his son, Ilyas
